Name and Country How many times have you been to Australia? How many times have you met Australian Aboriginal people? Please share your perceptions and impressions of Australian Aboriginal people
Florian from Belgium Never Never To be honest I don't know a lot of there culture but I like there arts a lot I've looked on the internet for the meaning of the different symbols and it's really interesting. One day I'd like to go to Australia to see and feel the Aboriginal Culture (and of course to visit Didgeridoo shops).
Anonymous Never Never Resourceful intelligent spiritual
Lloyd from South Africa Never Never I have always had a yearning to go to Australia. I was first introduced to the didgeridoo about 10 years ago and started playing on a PVC pipe. Then I bought a couple of bamboo ones but have never really been satisfied. I now own a handmade by me agave didgeridoo. I always wanted to come to Australia go to the Northern Territory and go into the bush with experienced Aboriginal people and hand make my own didgeridoo. I have always been fascinated with the Aboriginal people how sacred Urulu is to them how they have lived off the land and of course their amazing ability to play the didgeridoo. I fee really sad when I see documentaries on how alcohol and drugs have corrupted and destroyed so many Aboriginals how they have starting losing who they are and falling prey to westernised ideas and influences. I really hope that this race never dies and that traditions get carried on from generation to generation.
Anonymous Never Never They have a beautiful and pure culture. I am fascinated by how they live in the outback and thrive living the most natural life possible in this modern world. The didjes and clothes/jewellery etc they create are beautiful too.
Anonymous Aus 10+ Indigenous to the country and proud to be so knowledgeable about it.

Anonymous Never 1 I'm embarrassed to say I don't know much or have many impressions! Just that they have been terribly treated... I imagine the situation is similar to the Aboriginals here in Canada. I guess my perception is that there is a lot of pain and trauma but that the people are strong and have many things to offer and preserve.
Andrew from USA Never 1 I think they are a people that we can learn from. They have been around a long time and they are much more in tune with the land they live on than we are and I respect that.

Steve from Korea (rep) 1 10+ All the native Australian Aboriginal people have been very friendly and welcoming towards me. I find them to be easily approachable and very easy to talk to and become friends. They are all peace loving people I haven't met a single person with a bad attitude towards me. I was riding a bus. We stopped and took a short break in a little town called Tee Tree. I got out of the bus and started playing my didgeridoo. A few Aboriginals approached me when I was playing the didge they started tapping on things and dancing. Some started to sing or yelp. That was a very cool and nice experience. I spoke with them for a while then I was on the bus and on my way again.
