Playing instruments for fun is always relaxing. I minor in Oboe performance in college and because of the nature of having to practice long hours to achieve seeming perfection for a concert it is nice to be able to sit down with my trombone or saxophone or my friend's didj and be able to just do what comes naturally without having to worry about being judged critically. I find it a great method of relaxation. |

For me the didj is an outlet. It is a means of relaxation and getting in touch with my spirit and the natural world around me. Playing the didj is an opportunity to tune out the hustle-and-bustle of daily life and instead focus on myself and my own health and well being. In my life I spend a lot of time taking care of others [I work as an on-call Firefighter/First Responder for my town] and it is easy for me to forget to take care of myself. The didj allows me to go off on my own and block out all worries and other concerns--until I feel refreshed and ready to take on a new day. |

I find the didj for me the perfect instrument to help me unwind. In modern western society there is little place for true tranquility so you have to create your own. When playing other sounds (including your own busy thinking) are drowned out and your focus is solely on the didj. This simple minded focus is perfect for meditation relaxation and so healing. |
