This style should be reserved for Aboriginal people to play and preserved by Aboriginal people. Contemporary include more lenience towards other instruments that can accompany the Didj well creating various styles of music.

The skills and techniques are often passed down and the playing can be used to tell stories. Contemporary is pretty much any other type of playing especially playing with modern types of music & rhythms.
