Name and Country How many times have you been to Australia? How many times have you met Australian Aboriginal people? Please share your perceptions and impressions of Australian Aboriginal people
Anonymous 1 1 They were friendly and introduced me to their culture.
Anna from USA Never Never Unknown - but they seem to have a place in the Australian way of life.
Anonymous Never Never I would love to meet and talk with them. I feel that there is much more to learn and that much has been repressed and not shared. I think it is a true shame that there was ever any division and discrimination. We are all like it or not related.
Mattiesha from USA Never Never Having never met any I can only imagine their life as hard nomadic but culturally satisfying or there wouldn't be any.
Terri from USA Never Never I assume that the Australian Aboriginal people are just like everyone else.
Anonymous Never Never Very interesting.
Walter from USA Never Never They are the native people of Australia much like the American Indians.
Kristina from USA Never 1 I love them
Anonymous Never Never I would love to visit them
Anonymous Aus 10+ Not enough being done particularly in regards to health and education in remote areas. I lived in Casino and Dubbo and in Dubbo went to school with Aboriginal children from our street. Moved around a lot. The thing that annoyed me about my school education as an Australian the most was that Aboriginal Languages were not and are still not a part of the curriculum and I cannot conduct a conversation with any of my fellow country-persons in any of our own native tongues. I'd have liked to have learnt the major indigenous language for NSW say. Just think of the employment and cultural opportunities for Aboriginal peoples and the rest of us that would have come out of a government pursuing that agenda let alone the sense of inclusion. OK I'd understand perfectly well that teach might go walk-about every now and again so there would need to be a school area indigenous liaison who would come in and do probably ancillary work for that class or as a tandem teacher. I was involved with an Aboriginal Aboriginal Liaison Officer for a while a part of an Equal Opportunity meeting and while he didn't go walk-about his protégés did and there is more than traditional reasons for that. So it is all about flexibility. Very proud when CARMA got going and saddened on the day of Apology at the response of some of my fellow Australians. A lack of understanding that it is a slow process and an inability to see the big picture in the face of difficulties on both sides of the fence. But then again I took a Chinese friend to a Greek dancing class and not one Greek immigrant would let him near them or hold his hand in the line. Likewise at a workplace the bloke from the north of Ireland stayed away from the one from the south another workplace one Asian nationality wouldn't work with another Asian nationality and the multi-cultural dance group that I attended on an ad hoc basis that had mainly Balkan members split after the start of that wretched conflict. Pretty miserable and so unnecessary. So you just do the best you can when you can.
Stacey from USA Never Never Native peoples preserving their traditions
Anonymous from USA Never Never Treated shittily by the English speaking settlers just as the natives here in America were (are).
Amber Freeman from USA Never Never I have seen a movie about Aboriginal people and the customs are fascinating. It is amazing that they have been able to maintain their lifestyle and customs when so many other indigenous groups have lost their identity.
Anonymous from USA Never Never Natives of Australia.
James from USA Never Never Lovers of nature Earth family tradition & balance. Special artistic people who have deep bonds with the spirit world and all that is sacred. I love Aboriginal art and all it portrays.

Mike from Canada Never Never A culture fully aware of Mother Earth and are both one with and at peace with the planet. Something the rest of us really need to learn - or relearn. Something I am trying to do. Also like most other aboriginal peoples of the earth completely misunderstood to the point that it is made inconvenient for them to be here by the rest of us.
Anonymous Never 2 The culture is very interesting though I don't know very much about it.
Kevin from USA Never Never Australia is place that I have always wanted to be. I was born in the swamp lands of Florida and raised in the back woods of Missouri. I have always had a lot of respect for the Aboriginal culture. One day it is my dream to go to Australia and stay with the Aboriginal people for some time if they would have me. Being out side and in the bush is were I belong. Some day I will go to Australia and give the respect to the aboriginal people like they deserve.

Only what I've read and heard of it so far it really a culture I'm looking forward to learn and understand more about.
Anonymous Never Never My son went to Australia and he said the people were so nice and he felt very welcomed by them.
