Who are the indigenous people of your country?

What do you know about them?

Federico from Italy Romans greek and Etruscans Most of the history.. it is a big part of western culture
Lee from United Kingdom Geordies They don't feel the cold
Caleb Schepart from USA They are known as Native Americans however historical documents often refer to them using the term aboriginals. The term Indians or Native American Indians used to be more in use but is not really considered proper nowadays. Overall I know a lot about them I took a college elective about Native Americans. I can discuss the various broad language groups infamous tribes important events theories on dates of migration cultural/religious aspects interaction and dynamic with Europeans current state of affairs.
Anonymous Native Tribes eg Hopis Hopi Prophecy
Gary from United Kingdom Celts Some of their beliefs
Hue Stephens from Australia Withholders of ancient and future knowledge long forgotten by many of us Not as much as I would like to.. That real australians know what it means to be present. that they have been through shocking hardship yet remain willing to reach out and teach in order to help cure the madness that is seemingly running the contemporary world. COMPASSION WISDOM STRENTH
Anonymous Unknown Nothing at this time
Cindy from Canada Native American They have lived here all my life
Anonymous Native Americans Inuits They got screwed over when the Europeans migrated to the Americas.
Anonymous from USA Native american indians Lived thousands of years in USA some nomadic some hunter gathers. wiped out by disease and invasion.
Anonymous The Dutch Quite something but depends on the period of time
Anonymous from Netherlands The dutch Almost everything I'm dutch. we love cycling and have a lot of farmers we are good against water and have great bands
Anonymous Pre-Columbian inhabitants of North and South America Almost wiped out by Spaniard and whites alike. Some tribes still survive and continue to struggle. In South America issues on land deforestation in the US issues of depression and boredom.
Anonymous Well there are no indigenous people in Germany but many centuries ago the celts lived there. They were a folk of warriors druids and chieftains. They lived all over today's west Germany.
Anonymous Indians Spiritual people
John from USA American Indian Native to all parts of North America Hunters & Gatherers Loyal to Family Pushed from native lands
Tom from USA Native Americans (ie. Cherokee Blackfoot Chumash etc) Original inhabitants of the United States and Americas. Colonists from Europe destroyed their communities and killed the majority of Native Americans. The US continued to oppressive Natives by pushing them off tribal lands and putting them on reservations. There is some sovereignty now on tribal lands. They have a rich culture (music and otherwise) and have a much greater respect for the earth than our current society as a whole.
Matthew from USA American indians (native americans) Quite a lot
Austin from USA Native Americans Very much I am a history major specialize in the Comanche and Osage heritage.
Patrick from USA Native American Indians They have had a rough history of being abused and forced out of their own territory. There aren't too many people left with native blood in their heritage.
Anonymous Lenape and anasazi They were kicked out of their homeland by white settlers
Anonymous from USA Many different tribes of Native Americans i.e Sioux Dakota Hopi Cherokee Ojibwe etc. They have a great respect for and strong spiritual connection to the land/environment. They have a beautiful culture that is sadly disappearing today especially in regards to the languages. As white settlers required more and more land for themselves our indigenous people were eventually killed off or forced onto the reservations that we still see today. I heard a sad story today on public radio telling of how child services have been entering the reservations and removing children from their homes. While the laws state that they should be placed in homes of people from their tribes it sounds like this is not often the case.
Anonymous Aborigines. Not a lot.
Carl from United Kingdom Celts Romans Anglo-Saxons Picts I know they were tribal and feudal but also very learned and skilled.
Jake from Australia They are the original inhabitants of Australia They were here before the english came and they made everything they needed to live
Sharon from USA Native indian Many tribes of which I am of one
Thomas from USA The English They have all the money
Edward from USA The native indians of which the Cherokee are closest to me in my state of North Carolina. November is American Indian heritage month. The Chowanoc tribe were first visited by the British in the late 1500's. They offered food and shelter to the British during their first winter ultimately saving their lives. Ultimately the tribe was wiped out in a war with settlers after living with them peacefully for 50 years. THe arrival of the settlers was ultimately disastrous for the aboriginal inhabitants of North Carolina.
Anonymous from Netherlands Friezen Saxen Kelts There are still remains of them graves stones megaliths urn fields. and nearby a noble mans grave.

Skylar from Canada Well there are many tribes but mostly called natives. Not much beyond what they teach in school
Brian from USA Aboriginal They are the oldest continuous civilization on earth & the yakadi? {spelling may suck I'm dyslexic} is the worlds oldest musical instrument.
Rich from USA Native Americans They have a deep connection to and reverence for the land and all living beings. In their way of seeing the world everything has a spirit and is therefore equal and sacred. As such in their traditional beliefs "owning land" has no meaning since we belong to the land rather than the other way around. (See Chief Seattle's famous speech "How can one sell the air?")
Scott from Canada Native Canadians There are several different tribes mostly Cree where I live. There is some animosity toward the government and certain other groups for the way their people were treated in the past by the European settlers. The natives that I know and work with are very nice people with an interesting culture.
Anonymous The indigenous people of Australia are the natives of the land before other settlers arrived in the country. Not much.
Brady from USA American Indians: Cherokee Seminole Iroquois Sioux Comanche Apache Leni Lenape Crow Blackfoot Mohican Inuit North western Mohawk + others I'm not familiar with They were the earliest settlers although there is evidence that some tribes killed off a race of redhead people that preceded them. Our european culture drove them from their lands & the govt has broken every treaty that has been signed and still to this day they are treated as savages by many including the govt.. Really sad they have so much to offer:food music art & reverence for mother nature
Jackie from USA Various Native American Tribes including Cherokee Black Foot and Choctaw They were horrible abused and mistreated by the English settlers. they all had very rich and diverse cultures. The things that were done to them were horrible and sadly often forgotten

Anonymous Native Alaskans and Native Americans Not as much as I wish.
Gary from USA Native Americans example: indians Not as much as I should. They lived with the land rather than on it left no trace when they left an area and were very protective of their tribes as a whole.
Blake from Australia They are the original founders of Australia.. The aboriginals That there were over 250 languages spoken by them but now they mainly speak English. I also no about the stolen generation.

Robert Johnson from USA Native Americans I am not sure exactly how to answer this. They are about being one with nature living off the land and giving back. Everyone does their part to help out the community.
Daniel from USA Various indian tribes That they were here first and had a great respect for the land and animals.
Dylan from USA The Native Americans A lot. I am of Native American and Inuit lineage and have met many Native Americans and researched them quite a bit.
Anonymous Native American Indians not the white man! Not as much as I'd like to.
Kerry from USA The Native American tribes also called "Indians". They lived in the land now known as the USA prior to the white man's arrival. They lived off the land and existed hand -in-hand with nature. They had strong spiritual beliefs that carried over to their entire existence. Gradually they were forced to become subordinate to the white man and his ways and now exist as a secondary culture.

Much like the situation that the Aboriginal Society has experienced has been the plight to the Indigenous People here in the USA. Spirits broken anger poverty. What other races out of fear and power crush what they don't understand in the name of what they call progress and greed. They day is coming sooner than they think Gaia is calling to her children we must keep our hope visit the dreamtime it is for our survival the others will be lost and not see for their hearts are covered with their hatred and foolishness we must reestablish the union for a mother never forgets her children even after years of separation it has been said that a mother can recognize the smell of her child the Earth has not turned from us we have.
Anonymous from USA Not sure if you mean United states or Australia but I assume Australia and the indigenous people are the aborigines. They are an ancient society that now live in the bush. Prone to regarding the earth and it's environment as a source of animated energy. Pretty much oppressed by the early settlers of Australia and retreated deeper into the bush to get away the aborigines tend to be found in inner Australia.
