Aboriginal bones found on wind farm site

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 28 January 2005

Aborigines on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula are calling for human bones discovered on the site of a new wind farm development to be dated.

The Narungga people have accused the developer of damaging the bones during construction works at Wattle Point last month

The South Australian Government says while they are Aboriginal remains, tests show it is highly unlikely they were originally buried there.

Narungga heritage monitor Quentin Agius disputes the claim and wants a better response from the State Government.

"We're hoping to have a meeting with the State Aboriginal Heritage Committee and to point out exactly what's going on with development on the Yorke Peninsula," he said.
