Woodford organisers plan Indigenous festival

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 29 December 2004

Australia's largest folk music festival is about to get even bigger.

The Woodford Folk Festival is running until New Year's Day in Queensland's Sunshine Coast hinterland and organisers are expecting about 150,000 people to attend this year.

Organiser Bill Hauritz says a new international Indigenous festival could be up and running next June.

"We're committed to Australian culture," Mr Hauritz said.

"We think Australian culture starts with Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people, so we'll be working hard to have this inauguration next June and then every year after on the June long weekend."
