Doomadgee's arresting officer transferred to Gold Coast

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 21 December 2004

The police officer who arrested Palm Island man Cameron Doomadgee has been transferred to the Gold Coast.

Mr Doomadgee died in police custody last month, triggering angry riots on the north Queensland island.

The Queensland Police Service says senior sergeant Chris Hurley requested a transfer and will start work on the Gold Coast in the new year.

His Palm Island home was burnt down in the riots.
