The Australian Labor Party's national vice-president, Warren Mundine,
has called on his own party to end its "touchy feely" approach to
              Indigenous affairs.
Mr Mundine has criticised Labor's Indigenous affairs spokesman Kim Carr,
saying he speaks for the minority of party members.
Mr Mundine says although he does not support the Government's policies,
he thinks the notion of shared responsibility works.
"People need to sign on board in regard to improving their communities
and making changes within their communities," he said.
"In regard to community safety, in regard to people who are committing
crimes [they] need to stop committing crimes against Aboriginal people
and need to sign up with their community and sign up with their elders
to make sure they change their behaviour." |
