Police still searching for some Redfern rioters

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 1 April 2004

Sydney police say they are still looking for a number of people involved in February's Redfern riots.

Detective Inspector Darren Bennett says police are yet to arrest some people they have identified from taped footage at the riot, and are still working to identify others.

Police believe up to 80 people were involved in the nightlong standoff with police.

Detective Inspector Bennett says police have so far charged a total of 25 people.

"That's the first amount of charges that we took before the court, and we've got brief preparation in relation to all of those, which will be ongoing for a period of time," he said.

"We've got further people to track down and we've got further lines of inquiry to follow."
