Liddy knew about wine all along: report

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 12 March 2004

The Beattie Government has been rocked by more revelations in the Lockhart River wine controversy.

Indigenous Policy Minister Liddy Clark has reportedly told police there was a discussion about wine during the controversial trip to an alcohol-restricted Cape York community.

The media adviser who was sacked, then reinstated after taking a bottle of wine on the Government jet, claimed everyone on board knew about it.

The Minister denied that and the Premier backed her up.

Channel 10 has reported that the Minister's statement to police includes an admission that the question of wine was discussed by the group the night before Lockhart River, but that she thought it was a joke.

It is reported that Ms Clark's director-general was also involved in discussions about wine on the plane.

The Liberal Party says Ms Clark should now resign.
