A long-term study of Aboriginal children in the Northern Territory has
found major differences in key health indicators between urban and remote
community children.

The study was run by the Menzies School of Health Research and the Royal
Darwin Hospital.

It found that while much research focused on chronic adult diseases and
pre-school aged children, these studies rarely looked at school-aged
children.

The new study found that Aboriginal children in remote communites were
likely to be shorter, lighter, and have a lower body mass and haemoglobin
levels than urban Aboriginal children.
