Govt has 'moral obligation' to address reconciliation: Ridgeway

Government inaction towards reconciliation will be the focus of a Senate
inquiry launched in Canberra today.

A motion passed through the Senate yesterday for the inquiry to proceed.

Democrats Senator Aden Ridgeway says it will bring the Government to task
over its failure to address concerns outlined by indigenous communities.

"It's not enough for the Government to sit on its hands and not respond to
those problems that typify much of the problems that exist right through
Aboriginal communities across the country," Senator Ridgeway said.

"There is a moral obligation.
