Native Title holding up defence centre construction: Hill

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on Aug 12th, 2002.

The Defence Minister Robert Hill says unresolved native title issues have
left construction of the new Bradshaw Station Defence Training Centre
almost two years behind schedule.

The Defence Force bought the site near Timber Creek in 1996 but progress
has been slow.

Senator Hill says the army has been making-do elsewhere but it is time the
facility was up and running.

"It was always intended to develop a new major dry-season facility within
the Northern Territory," Mr Hill said.

"It was about 1995-1996, I think, that we decided on that property so
we've really just got to get a move on."
