A jury has been empanelled in the Northern Territory Supreme Court, to hear the murder trial of 27-year-old Gavin Yunupingu. The son of the Northern Land Council chair Galarrwuy Yunupingu, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a woman at Nhulunbuy in Arnhem Land in August 2000. A guilty verdict in the Territory means a mandatory life sentence. The trial is expected to last at least five days. |
