Films with Indigenous themes scoop top honours at AFI awards

Films with Indigenous themes have scooped the top honours at this year's
Australian Film Institute (AFI) awards in Melbourne tonight.

Best film went to Rabbit-Proof Fence, while David Gulpilil won the award
for best actor for his performance in The Tracker.

The award for best director went to Ivan Sens for Beneath the Clouds and
Maria Theodorakis was voted best actress for her role in Walking on Water.


The ABC also fared well with its comedy series Kath and Kim picking up
three awards and its drama, The Road From Coorain winning four awards.
